Why We're So Vital
For Families
Children who are medically fragile come to A Rosie Place for up to 10 nights at a time for respite stays. During this time, parents are given the gift of time to go on a date night, experience fun activities with their healthy children or enjoy much needed rest. We also host special events throughout the year, families (parents, fragile children, and siblings) are given opportunities to connect with others in a supportive environment and central location.

A Rosie Place is the friendliest respite facility that cares for medically fragile children!

If you’ve been unsure about joining our SHiNE Grief Support Group, please consider as one parent shared:
“When you have a child with special needs you are thrown into this world fighting. Your entire life becomes about them. You grieve the life that could’ve, would’ve, should’ve been… but then, somehow, you adjust. You become the juggler, the advocate, the expert in therapies, appointments, adaptations. Your mind runs a mile a minute. Every breath is spent caring, hoping, and fighting right alongside your child. Then they’re gone. The silence is unbearable. The SHiNE group gets it.” 💛
SHiNE, facilitated by Lisa Haines, LLC, is a virtual space for parents who’ve experienced the loss of a child who was medically child — a place of compassion, understanding, and shared connection.
🩷 Next meeting: Tuesday, November 4th at 6PM (via Zoom)

While this recognition celebrates her outstanding professional accomplishments, we’re especially grateful for the same fearless leadership and heart she brings to A Rosie Place for Children, where her vision helps create a world of “YES!” for medically fragile children and their families. 💗

Earlier this year, Assistant Professor Christina Corso and the Speech Language Pathology Department at Saint Mary's - Notre Dame, IN (NSSLHA) created adaptive toys for our medically fragile children!
This thoughtful collaboration brought creativity, compassion, and innovation together — ensuring that every child can experience the joy of play in ways uniquely suited to their abilities.
We’re so grateful for this partnership and for the students’ heartfelt dedication to making a difference where love, care, and fun live! 🧸✨
