Respite Care

Our mission is to create a world of “YES” for medically fragile children and their families; and we won’t quit!

Caring for a medically fragile child is a 24/7 commitment filled with love, courage, and countless responsibilities. At A Rosie Place for Children, we provide short-term overnight respite care that gives families a much-needed break — at no out-of-pocket cost.

While parents rest and recharge, their child is surrounded by skilled nurses, one-on-one attention, and joyful experiences in a home-like setting designed just for them. Whether it’s for a day-stay or up to 10 days, we ensure your child receives excellent care — all while enjoying laughter, play, and friendship

Who We Serve

At A Rosie Place for Children, we welcome children from all 92 counties in Indiana, ages 0-25, who are medically fragile.

A child who is medically fragile requires daily, specialized care that cannot be provided by an untrained caregiver.

Typically these children rely on therapies and specialized high-tech medical equipment such as G-Tubes, ventilators, apnea monitors, and suction machines to sustain or enhance their lives. Conditions that may classify a child as medically fragile include, but are not limited to, premature birth, brain injury, uncontrolled seizure disorders, cancer, spina bifida, complications from surgeries, chronic lung or heart disease, swallowing disorders, neuromuscular diseases, and chronic health conditions like diabetes and asthma.

Your child isn’t a diagnosis. We celebrate who they are by engaging their unique personalities, interests, and abilities through music, art, play, and sensory experiences.

Why is Respite Care Important?

Caring for a medically fragile child can be physically and emotionally demanding. Respite care is an essential service that benefits both children and their families:

For Children:

Children benefit from a change in routine and the opportunity to engage in new, stimulating activities in a safe and adapted environment. Our experienced staff provides compassionate care tailored to each child’s unique medical needs.

For Caregivers:

Primary caregivers often experience stress and burnout. Respite care helps reduce caregiver fatigue and improves overall family well-being. It allows parents and guardians to take time for themselves, whether it’s for rest, appointments, or spending quality time with other family members

Meet our Compassionate Care Team

Our team of dedicated and compassionate professionals is committed to providing the highest standard of care. Each caregiver is specially trained to handle the unique medical and emotional needs of medically fragile children. With a passion for service and a deep respect for every child’s dignity, our caregivers ensure that your child feels safe, valued, and loved.
